The Sixth One

Procrastination

This is the evil of all evils but it exists in all of us. Everyone at some point or the other has these bouts of laziness- when you will want to put off stuff for a later time. Its human nature, we all have it.

Look back and reflect on all those feats you had wanted to achieve but could not. Was it possible that they could have been accomplished if you had put in the effort? Maybe not because this doesnot apply to a competetive scenario where there is another person involved. But when you think about yourself- yes, im asking you to be selfish- the problem lies with Mr. Procrastination.
And yes, like the problem, the answer lies within us- actually it is usually too deep within us that it may require a life threatening/dire situation to bring out the tiger in us ( so cheesy i know!). It requires guts, blood and toil, faith and confidence AHEAD of the time of reckoning- not just moments away.

I wish i would not procrastinate. I wish I could pickup the answers buried within me. Someday I will. Untill then, there is always tommorow!

Hi.

I have good news and I have good news.

The good news is that answers are available. And the good news is that they are not buried too deep. We need not dig and delve to dive into some magical world to realize the key.

It is interesting that you speak of competition in this blog, because that happens to be the key. Competition. Two forces, Mr. Desire and Mr. Procrastination, compete for our attention. The stronger the desire, the weaker the adversary. Have you ever wanted something so bad that you were willing to go to any extent to get it? Have you experienced a drive, a force within yourself that keeps nagging you to do obtain the object of your desire? Has your desire ever grown into a passion? Where was Mr. Procrastination then?

Another thing: Unlike what you say, it appies perfectly to a competitive scenario. Competition is in itself a driving force. When you need to achieve something before another person claims success, when you want to be a pioneer. Then, you will have two forces working for you - the desire to succeed, and the fear of failure. When you have so much to deal with, there will be no time for procrastination.

Mr. Procrastination can attack only when Mr. Desire and Mr. Fear are sleeping. When you don't want something so bad, or when you are not afraid of losing, then you have the luxury to put it off and relax. So what's wrong with that?

Great thought. Procrastination takes a back seat when you have the desire to succeed. However the point i was driving at was that when there is a competitor, there is a chance that you may loose. But if there is NO competitor then the only factor stopping you from your goal is procrastination, nothing else. Its all upto you now.
And unless Mr. Desire is there the path to success becomes difficult. Mr. desire is what i referred to when i talked abotu blood, guts etc.
